PEF-monitoring has a fundamental role in the diagnosis and treatment of asthma. With the help of the service, patients' home PEF values can be monitored at desired intervals. In the diagnosis stage this may mean, for instance, receiving text messages twice daily, in the morning and in the evening. As appropriate, patients may be contacted less frequently to monitor their therapeutic control.
In this example, asthma patients in the diagnosis stage are asked to report their PEF values before and after taking their medication at home. Patients can respond easily with their own mobile phone.

In this example, the service generates a graph of the diagnosis stage of the asthma patient. The service automatically calculates the relevant values for diagnosing asthma, such as the day-to-day variation and the bronchodilatation response. |
